Founder's Story

Why it's called "the Village."

Mama K's Village grew from a desire to create a village of support around young people. The vision is rooted in the understanding that youth often need more than rules and consequences — they need encouragement, mentorship, direction, exposure to opportunities, and adults who are willing to invest in them.

The founder's vision is to build a place where teens can discover what they are good at, develop real-world skills, prepare for employment, and see possibilities beyond the circumstances immediately around them. MKV was created to turn that vision into programs that are practical, welcoming, and connected to the needs of youth and families.

The name Mama K's Village reflects the idea that raising and supporting young people should not be done alone. It takes a village — parents, mentors, schools, community members, employers, and organizations working together — to help youth thrive.

Our Promise to Youth

Dream. Discover. Develop.

We provide experiences and guidance to help them discover their purpose and passions.

Develop

We equip them with skills, support, and opportunities to lead and build the life they deserve.

Where We Are Today

MKV is a young organization — here's what's built and what's underway.

🏢 Established as an LLC

Mama K's Village is registered as an LLC with its own EIN, while we explore nonprofit and 501(c)(3) status for the long term.

🌐 Building Our Digital Home

A website, GoDaddy account, business account, and Facebook presence are laying the groundwork for outreach and operations.

📋 Listening First

A youth/family survey is in development to learn about needs, behavioral concerns, truancy, preferred locations, and the programming families would value most.

💛 Fundraising in Motion

We're pursuing community donations, supply drives, GoFundMe fundraising, and grant research to fund the programs above.

🤝 Growing Partnerships

We're building relationships with schools, employers, mentors, and community organizations who can provide space, services, and support.

🎯 Long-Term Goal

Enough community and financial support to expand programming and open a consistent physical space for teen-focused activities.

A Message From Our Founder

"Mama K's Village is built on a simple belief: young people deserve to know that their future can be bigger than their current circumstances. We want to give youth a place to dream, discover who they are, and develop the skills to become who they want to be. Our goal is not just to keep young people out of trouble — it is to help them find purpose, opportunity, and a reason to believe in themselves.

It takes a village to raise, guide, and empower a child. Mama K's Village is committed to being part of that village."
